内容简介：How do multi-product firms gain from trade liberalisation? In this paper we show that firms’ sourcing capability plays a key dimension in determining firms’ product choices responding to export liberalisation. Using Chinese firm level export-import data, we show that reductions in trade policy uncertainty induced by China’s WTO entry can lead to substantial increase(decrease) in firms’ likelihood of export entry(exit) in new(existing) products, especially for those products that have greater input similarity with the firms’ existing input mix. These effects are stronger for high income export markets.  We show that these results are consistent with recent theories of firm level comparative advantage (Boehm, Dhingra, and Morrow 2021), and the structural estimation of the model provide further evidence supporting the importance of the sourcing channel.
